![]() ![]() The Islands have different runways and special things like aircraft carriers or bridges. ![]() There are four Islands in the phone version and six on the PC version, and you can fly from to the other by crossing the ocean, which is great fun. There is also a wind simulation and lots of space to fly in. The simulation of water is not that good in the phone version, but it's OK to take off from the water. ![]() In the game, your planes also can stall and get into a spin. The damage simulation is really good, the plane reacts to it in a realistic way, and there can also happen stuff like burning engines and fuel tanks or propellers sticking somewhere in the plane because they fell off. The flight Simulator is definitely not the best, but its totally OK to simulate faults in your design, like a tail heavy plane or damage. It really helps to turn your design into a 3D model to get the looks the way you want, and this is a great and simple option If you don't have access to real CAD programs. I actually test most new planes in this before building them, because I can test how it looks, experiment with it without wasting materials and check out basic flight characteristics and CG. And you can even export the files of your designs and 3D print them. If you don't have skills and time to build something super awesome, you can easily download it or share your own airplanes. Next to sandbox mode are also challenges, races, and Dogfights. But you don't need to build just planes, you can even build cars, drones, boats, machines and anything in between. You can build planes from only under 10 parts or go absolutely scale and include almost any funktions you want. Its not the best flight simulator out there, but it gets its job done. The simulation is also physics based and pretty good. The program also calculates center of gravity, center of lift, center of thrust and drag. So, what can you do with this game? First of all, you can build airplanes by putting different blocks together, adding wings and engines and stuff like that. He also addressed the novelty issue and how after a while the game can get boring. However, most players would disagree with these criticisms, and the game has very positive ratings on Steam and an average rating of 4.5+/5.0 stars on the App Store. Mark Steighner, a writer for Hardcore Gamer did not criticise the controls but instead commented on the lack of charisma that games like Kerbal Space Program have. Ben Schwan, a writer for the German website Heise Online also criticised the building mechanics. He compared the graphics to "a poor man's Wii Sports resort" and said the planes looked like small wooden toys with the best compliment he could give the game being "who knows if the aerodynamic knowledge players learn from SimplePlanes can actually transfer over into the real world? But, gameplay and visual gripes aside, the fact that it at least feels like it can is probably the best compliment this game can get". ![]() Jordan Minor from 148Apps criticised the game for its "slippery controls" and he noted the environment was "ugly, muddy and blocky". The review was weighed down by the lack of tutorials and how "getting pieces to fit together doesn't always go as planned". Nadia Oxford, a writer for Gamezebo gave SimplePlanes a 4/5 for its realistic flight challenges, sandbox mode and the amount of building options. The biggest issue critics had was the process of building. This makes SimpleRockets ideal for the classroom, or as a healthy alternative to the barrage of brainless games available on the App Store.SimplePlanes received "mixed or average" reviews, according to Metacritic, where it garnered a score of 67/100. Players will learn about rocket science and astrodynamics while they are having a blast exploring the solar system. Kepler wrote the equations 400 years ago, and SimpleRockets uses those equations to model extremely realistic orbital physics. Several challenges are built into the game so you can see who can go the fastest, fly the farthest, orbit with the least amount of fuel, land on the moon, and so much more. Whip around the sun and launch yourself out to the far reaches of the solar system. You can fly through the intense atmosphere of Venus, or you can take advantage of the low gravity of Mercury. You are only limited by your imagination.īlast off from any planet you want. You can even build rovers with powered wheels. You can choose from a variety of rocket engines, fuel tanks, and other gizmos. See if you have what it takes to be a rocket scientist.Ĭhoose and connect parts together to build rocket ships. You can find it on the App Store now or check out the website at ĭesign your own rocket ships. Build airplanes and test them with realistic physics and see how they fly.
